Her legacy leaves a lasting impact on women, and on the housing market. Last year, 17% of first-time home buyers and 18% of repeat home buyers were single women. In my own business, single women made up a third of my sales, and this year looks to be the same. Some facts about women & their home buying power and aspirations:
- Single women (18%) far outpace single men (9%) as home buyers
- 73% of single women prioritize owning a home
- 29.5 million women in the labor force have a bachelor’s degree
- Women now account for 50.2% of the college-educated workforce — an 11% increase since 2000
- Women say purchasing a home will make them feel independent (57%), successful (47%) and empowered (31%).
